Facebook announced the new search engine to be featured on its social networking website. That deploys that the search results displayed will be more accurate and precise. All the data collected from users from the past many years will be used to display,enhance and filter the search results to be closer to you and your friends.

What Facebook Graph Search is that it basically uses all the data collected over the years to narrow the search results and show the most relevant results based on your and others Privacy settings and the results will be much related / closer to you or your friends. Facebook Graph Search is currently in its beta version (i.e. testing version). And thus it is available to only English (US) audiences first.and later it will be rolled out to the whole world.

People Search



There is a “People Search” option. We can make direct search queries or general search queries through this feature. For example You can search for “My friends Interested in Cycling”. You can also give a specific search query such as ” Friends of Ashwani Kumar Singh living in Najafgarh” . This query will show the search results showing only those people who are friends of Ashwani Kumar Singh and are living in Najafgarh.
Photo Search



You can use the Photo Search feature of the Graph Search to yield Image results . For example you may search for ” Ashwani Kumar Singh’s photo at Taj Mahal”. This will display all the photos of Ashwani Kumar Singh at Taj Mahal.
Location Search



Location Search feature. For example ; If you go to some new place and you don’t know much about that place. You can simply search “gym in New Delhi” or “hotel in XYZ City”. These search queries will yield the search results showing all the Gyms in New Delhi or the Hotels in XYZ CIty.
How Privacy Works with Facebook Graph Search

Graph Search helps you find people, places and things—and explore Facebook in a whole new way. And it has the ability to show the search results according to the Privacy settings of the users. For example:
If you search for your friends based on their city, interests, profile info then you’ll see results for friends who share their city with you, people whose city is set to Public, and suggested results based on info shared with you.
You can find photos that you and your friends have posted or been tagged in.
Others will see any photos they can see on Facebook, including photos hidden from Timeline.You can review photos you’ve shared or have been tagged in.

Thus it is clear that the Facebook Graph Search feature will display Search results according to the Privacy settings of the users.
